John W. Hall

Henderson, KY

John W. Hall, age 76, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 7:00 PM, Sunday, September 18, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.

John married LaNeave Fletcher in 1965 and together raised 3 daughters. He was a high school athlete and lettered in 4 sports; football, basketball, track and tennis. He attended Western Kentucky University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran. His platoon was the first of American Forces to land in Laos during the Vietnam War. Mr. Hall was a Kentucky State Senator from 1986-1990. John was the past president and member of the Rotary Club. He was owner of Henderson Paint and Glass Company and Henderson Glass Company on 2nd street. When they were younger, he and his wife enjoyed playing tennis and dancing. John was a hard worker and enjoyed swimming in the family pool. He dedicated his time on Sunday to be with family.

John was preceded in death by his parents Ray Hall and Dorothy Hall Vittitow.

Wife of 51 years: LaNeave Hall of Henderson, KY

3 Daughters: Andrea Steele and husband Jeff of Henderson, KY

Amy Holt and husband Rance of Jonesboro, AR

Ashley Hall of Lexington, KY

2 Brothers: Albert Hall and wife Mary of Louisville, KY

Robert Hall and wife Deky of Cary, NC

5 Grandchildren

2 Great Grandchildren

1 Niece and 2 Nephews

Relatives and friends are invited to John's Life Celebration from 4:00- 7:00 PM Wednesday and again on Thursday starting at 9:00 AM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the funeral home with Reverend Jim Wofford officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First United Methodist Church and St. Anthony's Hospice.

I'm so sorry to hear about John Hall, a fixture for me in the life of Henderson, the First United Methodist Church and the overall social fabric of the town. And in Kentucky politics for so long from our neck of the woods.

A good friend to my parents, Mr. Hall was always friendly and upbeat when I saw him and welcomed kids, teenagers and young adults into the conversation more readily than many people would. Fond memories of and warm thoughts for this Kentucky gentleman, whose outgoing presence will be missed.
