Martha Tanaka Obituary
Henderson, Ky.
Martha Rooney Tanaka, 88, of Henderson, Ky., died at 5:08 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016, at St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.
She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar Society and Bereavement Committee. She was also a member of Central Homemakers Club and Audubon Quilters.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Larry T. Tanaka, who died April 11, 1998; one son, Michael Tanaka, who died May 22, 2016; and her parents, Dennis Patrick and Annie Lee Wiggers Rooney.
Survivors include one son, Patrick Tanaka, of Henderson, Ky.; two daughters, Florence Rich, of Henderson, Ky., and Ann Dixon and her husband, Roger, of Chandler, Ariz.; two daughters-in-law, Pam Tanaka and Beverly Tanaka, both of Henderson, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Michael A. Tanaka, Rob Rich, Rafe Tanaka, Travis Dixon, Justin Dixon, Jacob Tanaka, and Sarah Tanaka; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon today at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father J. Edward Bradley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery. Visitation will be until 11 a.m. today at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church or St. Anthony's Hospice.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and family.

Martha was a dear friend and neighbor of my Mother, Alice Mathews Yates. My Mother passed in 2005, now they can continue their visits with no mental or physical afflictions. I'm so happy my daughter, Allison and I stopped by for a visit with Martha on our last visit to Henderson. Rest in Peace Martha. Condolences to the family.
