Ruby L. Slaughter, age 94, of Henderson, Ky., passed away at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Redbanks Nursing Home under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice surrounded by her family.

Ruby was a sweet, good-hearted woman who loved making everyone laugh. She was loving, caring and kind. Ruby was the biggest fan George Strait will ever have. She saw him in concert five times; each time it was like the first time. Ruby was a huge U.K. Basketball fan, and when she wasn't cheering them on, she was watching Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Ruby's heart and soul was her family. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched; mostly her daughters and sons, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lawrence and Stella Gibson, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Lucius Slaughter; her son, Kenneth Ray Slaughter; her infant son, Martin "Teensie" Slaughter; and her grandson, Jeffrey M. Slaughter.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Slaughter, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Richard Slaughter and his wife, Judy of Henderson, Ky.; three daughters, Joyce Hutchinson and her husband, Don, of Zion, Ky., Janice Slaughter, of Henderson, Ky., and Joan Slaughter, of Henderson, Ky.; five grandchildren, Brian Hutchinson and his wife, Stefanie, Heather Hughes and her husband, Ryan, Jenny Hutchinson, Becky Powell and her husband, Robbie, and Audrey Slaughter and her wife, Katrina;

seven great-grandchildren, Cody Powell, Jaden Powell, Parker Powell, Rachael Hutchinson, Natalie Hutchinson, Easton Hutchinson and Hadon Hughes

Relatives and friends are invited to Ruby's Life Celebration from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and again on Thursday starting at 9 a.m. at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the funeral home, with Father J. Edward Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson, Ky.
