Ruby Jewell Yates, age 99, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 1:50 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Ruby grew up on a farm in Henderson. She was the oldest and last survivor of her four siblings. She met the love of her life in the church she grew up in. Harvey and Ruby were inseparable and married in 1937. During the Great Depression the newlyweds moved to their own place. Ruby was a homemaker and mother of nine children. She spent a lot of her time cooking, working in the garden and canning. She made great biscuits and gravy and great big huge donuts that won't be forgotten. She attended various Pentecostal churches. Ruby loved to listen to gospel music and enjoyed watching the birds from her porch. She could be found most mornings all bundled up to keep warm with her two honey buns and coffee. Ruby knew how to love and was loved by all.

In addition to her parents, Harvey and Mary Fritts, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Yates, her daughters, Dorothy Owens, Deanie Fambrough and Shirley Yates, her sons, Howard Yates, Bobby Yates and Aubrey Yates, 2 granddaughters, Tammy Trainer and Donna Owens, and great-grandson, Frankie Chandler.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ruby's Life Celebration from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 25. 2018 and again on Tuesday starting at 10:00 a.m. at Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Gerald Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson, KY
