Angela R. Giermala

Angela R. Giermala, "Angie," (née Paluzzi), age 96 years, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the Joliet Area Hospice Home.
Born in Joliet and a life-long resident.
She was a life-long active member of the Church of St. Anthony and named Woman of the Year with the CCW. Founding member of the American-Italian Cultural Society. She took great pride in organizing the bakery sales for the club for over 30 years.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Henry J. "Hank" Giermala (2008); her parents, Archangelo and Amelia (nee Metri) Paluzzi; her dearest sisters and brothers-in-law, Violet (late, Steve) Biro, Lillian (late, Joseph) Bonzek and Edith (late, Chester) D'Atri.
Survived by her loving children, Victoria (late, Nicola) Recchia, Judi (late, Raymond) Petersen and Mark (Rebecca) Giermala; her dear grandchildren, Gregory (Laura) Gear, Vickie Gear, David (Stephanie) Mangun, Giana Giermala and Matthew (Jenny) Giermala; 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation for Angie Giermala will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Joliet on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 3 -7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 beginning at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of St. Anthony for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.
In accordance with CDC guidelines, all attending the visitation and funeral services will be required to wear a facial mask and observe social distancing.
Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Crest Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American-Italian Cultural Society Scholarship Fund would be appreciated.
