Andrew Gregory Gajdalo, age 18, a resident of Aurora, IL, passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2025. He was born on April 21, 2007 in Naperville, IL.
Andrew is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Ann Marie (nee Malnar) Gajdalo of Aurora, IL and brother, Matthew Gajdalo; his maternal grandparents, Jack and Carol Malnar of Joliet, IL and paternal grandfather, Roy Gajdalo of Philadelphia, PA; his aunts and uncles, John (Nancy) Malnar, Paul Malnar, Kathy (David) Paul; as well as several cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Olga Gajdalo and his uncle, Greg Malnar.
Andrew was a proud graduate of SS. Peter & Paul School in Naperville, where he was a member of the school band, playing both clarinet and saxophone. He attended Benet Academy, where he formed lasting friendships and built a strong foundation for the years ahead. Andrew was a dedicated Boy Scout and discovered a love of the outdoors and the deep satisfaction of teamwork and perseverance. He looked forward to Scout summer camps every year. One summer, he went out to Philmont in New Mexico and spent 12 days hiking where he hiked over 70 miles.
An active and energetic spirit, Andrew enjoyed working out and spent many seasons playing hockey, baseball, basketball, and soccer. He also found joy in the quieter moments-immersed in video games, listening to music, or taking peaceful walks surrounded by nature and animals.
Travel shaped Andrew in meaningful ways; he explored 35 states and two countries, always curious and appreciative of the world around him. Those who knew Andrew remember him as goodhearted, kind, and always willing to help. His wit was gentle, his humor warm, and his soft-spoken presence brought comfort to those around him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. All are invited to gather for the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 29, 11:00 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth. Interment will be at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville. Andrew was always happy to be outside with his friends and to be in nature, he never failed to put a smile on my face. He was one my best friends and a great guy. I hope he rests easy up in heaven.
