Carol J. Slaboszewski

Carol Jean Slabozewski (nee Chandler), age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2020.

Survived by her children, Marilyn (Tim) Hartley and Tom (Lori) Slaboszewski; her son in law Roger Hughes; grandchildren: Mary Jo (Icee) Smith, Rick (Mary) Hubeny, Jen (Michael) Smith, Michael Hughes, Matt (Amy) Hughes, Drew (Melissa) Hughes, Wang Slaboszewski, Sean Slaboszewski, Marla Slaboszewski and Laura Henry; 10 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren, and her godchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Slaboszewski; her daughter, Jean Hughes; her son, David Slaboszewski; her parents, Louis (Marie) Chandler and her sister, Ardelle Conroy.

Carol was born in Chicago on August 27, 1934. She resided in Joliet most of her life. Carol was a devoted Lutheran. She attended St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was confirmed. She attended Redeemer Lutheran Church h where she participated in many organizations. In her later years she attended Our Savior Lutheran Church where she helped in the Braille ministry and the Spiritual vitamin jar ministry. Carol attended Joliet Central High School, class of 1953. She worked a few different jobs before meeting the love of her life, Len. They married on June 11, 1955. Carol became a mother in May of 1956. She learned about being a mom and giving her love to her children. Our mother sacrificed much to ensure the care and well-being of her children. She was always there to lend an ear to listen and guide us through our joys and sorrows. Carol enjoyed traveling to Vegas, working on puzzles and bowling in her bowling league. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed. Carol will remain in our memories ALWAYS!

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Road, Joliet IL. Inurnment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date. Donations made to the family in Carol's honor will be appreciated.

In accordance with the current COVID-19 guidelines, all attendees will be required to wear a face mask and observe social distancing while in the church.
