Charles D. "Chuck" Skeldon, Jr.
Passed away peacefully at his residence, Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the age of 77 years. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Susan L. Skeldon (nee Dulny) and their three children Kim (Cheryl Smith) hristensen, Joe (Stephanie) Skeldon, and Shane Skeldon. Six grandchildren Jennifer (Ian) Ray, Mathew (Ellen) Christensen, Tyler (Daniella) Skeldon, Danielle Skeldon, Brad Skeldon and Ashley (Christian) Foyt, as well as five great-grandchildren Christian Jr. and Eric Foyt, Lily and Kaylee Skeldon, and Madeleine Christensen. His brothers and sisters-in-law Ann Sterioti, David (Jennifer) Dulny, Mary Lou (Dr. Robert) Larson and Michael (Toni) Dulny. He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Charles D. Skeldon, Sr. and Bessie Draznik as well as his step-father Ed Draznik. His sister Dorothy (Ed) Crombie and brother Benny Skeldon two brothers-in-law Bob Sterioti and Greg Dulny and his in-laws Frank and Mary Dulny and Roy Duchene. Chuck was born on July 13, 1947, in Joliet, Illinois, and graduated from Joliet Township High School. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Fire Science Management from Lewis University. Chuck proudly served the Joliet Fire Department for over 30 years, rising through the ranks to retire as Division Chief of Operations. He was a past Vice President of the Joliet Firefighters Union Local 44 and a former executive board member of the Joliet Fire Officers Union Local 2369, where he contributed to many contract negotiations. Chuck also served as a trustee of the Joliet Fire Department Pension Board and was a member of the Moran Athletic Club. An avid golfer, Chuck had two holes-in-one to his credit and cherished his time playing golf with friends, particularly in leagues and on golf trips, many of which were spent with his beloved firefighter brothers. Special thanks are extended to Jack Krynicki and "Little Eddie" Crombie for their care and support during Chuck's illness. Funeral serives will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Friday, September 27th at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be private. Visitation will take place Thursday from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Friday from 9:00 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials to Lightways Hospice or Loyola Burn Unit will be appreciated. My Condolences to all of Chucks family. He was a very laid back guy as we worked together in our younger days at Burger Chef. Remembering our pay 75 cents a hour. Sure was
