Christopher McFadden Obituary
Christopher R. McFadden, age 41, of Frankfort, Illinois, died Thursday, June 29, 2017, peacefully at his home.
Born in Joliet, Chris attended Joliet West High School. He graduated from Harvard in 1997, cum laude, where he was an editor of the Harvard Crimson newspaper. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from Northwestern School of Law in 2000 where he was on Law Review and earned Order of the Coif. Chris was a Federal District Law Clerk in Montgomery, Alabama, and he also clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. He worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in San Diego and Chicago from 2005-2016. Chris never lost a case.
While at the U.S. Attorney's Office he was awarded an FBI Commendation, a National Crime Victims Certificate of Appreciation, and the Chicago Crime Commission Star of Distinction Award. He successfully prosecuted 28 cases, including a $600MM fraud case and a joint case with the Illinois Department of Securities involving $1B in funding.
Chris was a Big 10 baseball umpire and a college basketball official. He also worked at Northwestern University School of Law as an Adjust Lecturer from 2007-2012. He served on the Frankfort School Board and was its President from 2013-2015. He was re-elected to the Frankfort School Board in April 2017. He presently is an Associate at the law firm of Mahoney, Silverman and Cross in Joliet.
Chris is survived by his devoted parents, Susan and Terry McFadden; his loving wife, Sarah Bay McFadden; and his three beautiful, young children, Brooke, Matthew and Erin who loved their daddy dearly. Chris is also survived by two brothers, James (Ginger) and Daniel (Ashley); two nieces and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sarah McFadden for the children's education would be appreciated.
A celebration of Christopher's life will begin on Thursday, July 6, 2017 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:10 a.m. then driving in procession to Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood. Interment to follow at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Our hearts go out to both of you on the loss of Chris. We know very well your incredible pain and suffering. You are now a member with us of that group that you never ever wanted to belong to.
Please have trust and faith in God. He has a plan and you must believe in Him. It is extremely difficult and the pain and sorrow never go away, but it does get a teeny bit better over time.

We were blessed to have the McFaddens as neighbors. We often enjoyed chatting with them as the family strolled past our house on walks. We always smiled when we saw Chris taking an evening walk with his young daughter in his arns.
We Frankfort residents were so fortunate that Chris was civic minded, serving on two school boards.
