Died: April 21, 2021 in Henderson, NV
Dennis "Fletch" Fletcher passed away on April 21, 2021 in Henderson, NV. Born in Joliet, IL on August 8, 1950 to Harold (Tuffy) Fletcher and Theresa (Lenzi) Fletcher. Dennis spent his childhood in Plainfield, IL and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era, joined the International Operating Engineers Union, Local 150 in 1972, and worked as a heavy equipment operator for various contractors in the Joliet area. Dennis moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1981, transferred to IOEU Local 12, and worked at the Nevada Test Site as an operating engineer and heavy equipment repairman for 25 years. Upon retirement in 2006, he moved to Stafford, Virginia until his wife retired in 2016, when they returned to Henderson, NV to be near family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Catherine (Bada) Fletcher; brother, David Fletcher of Oceanside CA; sister, Patricia and brother-in-law George Rapp of Plainfield, IL; sister, Susan Fletcher of Vista, CA; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Road, Plainfield, IL on June 12, 2021 2021 at 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of his Life dinner is planned for 6:00 p.m. Irish Thyme Pub, Plainfield. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Dennis' name to Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. I am saddened to learn of Dennis´ passing. He was 2 years ahead of me in high school and we were wrestling team mates. As a freshman I wrestled 180 and he was heavy weight, so we practiced together most of the time. I remember Dennis as being outspoken, in a good way, friendly to all with a sense of humor. God bless his spirit. Peace
