Dennis Hartley Obituary
Dennis R. Hartley "Big D". Age 60. Suddenly Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center with family rushing to his side. Born in Joliet and a lifelong Plainfield resident.
Dennis was a lifelong trucker but his passion and lifework was centered around farming. Dennis enjoyed building and restoring International Harvester farm tractors. He especially enjoyed the camaraderie and attended all of the tractor shows that he could.
Preceded by his parents, Donald and Esther (nee Hudy) Hartley; one sister, Rose Fox; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Hill.
Survived by his loving and devoted wife and best friend of 32 years, Sandra K. (nee Hahn) Hartley; best friend and loving son, Charlie Hartley, both of Plainfield; one daughter, Tammy Jo Hartley-Stephens of North Carolina; one grandson, Tyler Stephens; two brothers, Terry Hartley and Richard (Sue) Hartley; three sisters, Donna (the late Robert) Kijowski, Christine (Rich) Pucel and Lucille Durham; numerous nieces, nephews and many devoted and special friends also survive.
Funeral Services for Dennis R. Hartley will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Friday, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

I could write a book about all the wonderful times we've had together, Cedar Lake, Tractor shows, dinners at your house to name just a few! Denny has been a huge part of our lives for the past 35 years. This is a friendship that will last the ages. Words cannot express the emptiness we will all feel without you. Thank you for sharing your life and your wonderful wife and son with us. We hope to share many more happy memories with both of them. Keep watch over us all and know we love and miss you everyday! Love you all to the moon and back.
