Donnie Bishop Obituary
Donnie Bishop, of Plainfield, passed away at the age of 68 on Friday, January 18, 2019, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family. Donnie was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee on July 4, 1950, the only son of Albert and Martha (nee Essary) Bishop. He was formerly of Joliet and was a graduate of Joliet East High School and attended Joliet Junior College.
Donnie was a parishioner of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Plainfield. He was a good man with a big heart. He enjoyed dedicating his time to helping others and could be found volunteering with numerous charities, coaching softball with the Plainfield Athletic Club and sponsoring families in need during the holidays. He enjoyed fishing with the grandkids and became an avid golfer when he retired 13 years ago. Even in retirement he stayed busy as an Independent Contractor with ComEd. Donnie was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and a good friend.
Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Annmarie (nee Over); two daughters, Jamie and Elizabeth Frances; adopted daughter, Rebecca; seven grandchildren, Brenton, Alyssa, Caleb, Darcy, Ella, MJ and Faith; siblings, Teresa (Donald) Babich and Tamara (Paul) Afrunti; one aunt, Marie Tickle; and sisters-in-law, George Ann Over, Rosemary Wenk, and Karen Leypold. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Nathan and Morgan; his mother-in-law, Mary Crissup; and several aunts and uncles.
A Memorial Gathering for Donnie Bishop will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials in his name may be made to American Breast Cancer Foundation or American Heart Association.
