Gene K. Telfer 87, of Morris passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Park Pointe Place in Morris.
Born in Morris, on April 9, 1934, Gene was the son of the late Alexander and Evelyn (Russo) Telfer. Gene attended the schools in Morris and was proud to be in the first graduating class of the newly built Morris Community High School, Class of 1952.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Gene retired after 40 years with Commonwealth Edison. He and his wife, Peggy, enjoyed retirement in Hernando, Florida where they lived for more than 25 years. Gene never met a stranger and loved to travel even visiting Australia and New Zealand where he bungee jumped at age 77.
Surviving is one brother, Russell (Connie); his children Theresa (Ivan) McEvoy, Carol (Mike) Briggs, Cindy (John) Adler, Greg (Phyllis) Telfer, and Mary (Dan) Whalen; Grandchildren Jason Muzzey, Alexander and Martha McEvoy, Stacy (Noffsinger) Belz, Kevin Noffsinger, Amanda and Eric Briggs, Connor Weese, Ashlyn (Johnny) Tyrakowski, Jack, Margaret and Grace Whalen. Numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at 11:00 am in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris, Il.
