Henry Reed Obituary
Born: Sept. 21, 1937; in Brookhaven, MS
Died: Oct. 18, 2014; in Joliet, IL
Henry Reed Jr. "Sonny", born on September 21, 1937 in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to the union of Mr. Henry and Charliesteen Reed. He departed this life on October 18, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Joliet.
Henry accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Joliet. Henry graduated from Joliet Central High School. He worked as a Glazer and as a Bridge Attendant, rotating to all the bridges in Joliet, but finally the McDonough Street Bridge is where he worked until he retired in 1998.
Henry loved Priscilla from the first day he met her in May of 1965. He also loved his dogs, Ginger, Gallahad and Daisy, were all Staffordshire Bull Terriers and are all deceased now, but Lucky a Jack Russell, was his dear friend to the end.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Charliesteen Reed, Sr.; sisters, Ellis M. Jones and Paula E. Gaddy.
Henry leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Priscilla Reed; three brothers-in-law, James and Sherman (Aileen) of Forest, MS, and Bienville Jones of Joliet; nieces and nephews, Jackie, Bienville Jr., Simmie, Greta, of Joliet, IL, Regina (Bernard) of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara, Charles (Ieshia), Wesley, Christina, David and Dale (Roberta) Gaddy, all of Joliet, Janice (Willie) Crayton of Crest Hill, IL, Constance (Veodies) of Plainfield, IL; grand nieces and nephews, James, Jr. (Tasha), Marcus, Shantil, Corey, Chenell of Texas and Jasmine of Joliet, Conchetta and Chastity, both of Joliet, Tiffany (Demetruise) Cooper of Lockport; great great nieces and nephew, Denzel and Maya of Jacksonville, FL and Carmisha Clayton of Joliet; special cousin, Patricia (Bill) Williams of Joliet; a host of other great nieces, nephews and other cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, October 25, 2014, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Service at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Edward Martin, Jr., officiating. Interment following at Mt. Vernon Memorial Estates, Lemont, IL

Sorry for the loss of your Uncle Sonny. Sonny was a very close friend of our family the Davis's. Sonny use to love to come sit with my grandmother Eva and talk with her and listen to her play her harmonica. He will be missed greatly.

You have my condolence for your lose.Sonny and I go back a long way to the 60's and 70's to our racing days.Sonny will be missed with his passing, but his memory will live on.Sonny was always fun to be around and he always had that great smile from ear to ear.He was a good friend.
