Henry 'Skip' Albert Simons
Born: July 3, 1943
Died: April 7, 2024
Henry "Skip" Albert Simons of Plainfield, IL passed away on April 7, 2024 due to pancreatic cancer. Skip was born July 3, 1943 in Port Huron, MI to Albert and Pearl (Smith) Simons.
Skip grew up and graduated from St. Stephen's High School in Port Huron. He served in the US Navy from 1965 to 1969. Afterwards, Skip had a career in telecommunications, primarily as a project manager for Wescom and Rockwell International before retiring from Tellabs. He then worked as a handyman and drove grain trucks. Skip was an active member of American Legion Post 13 in Plainfield.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Brown) Simons, daughter Stacy and her husband Michael Lamers and their children Samuel and Ethan of Boise, ID and daughter Stephanie Simons of Slate Creek, ID. Sisters Antonia Pemberton of Johnson, IA, Judith Elliott of Fort Gratiot, MI and Mary and her husband John Blythe of Oro Valley, AZ.
A visitation will be held at Overman-Jones Funeral Home in Plainfield on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 1PM to 3PM. Skip will be interred at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warriors Project would be appreciated.
