James Jackson Obituary

Died: Jan. 17, 2016
James R. Jackson, age 72, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, January 17, 2016, at UMC Hospital in Las Vegas.
Born in St. Louis, MO, July 31, 1943, to the late Floyd and Georgia (nee Rhodes) Jackson. Retired second-level management from Caterpillar (Joliet, IL) after 35 years of dedicated service. Resided in Las Vegas for the past 19 years.
In his free time Jim enjoyed music and loved to play the guitar, often becoming the entertainment at family gatherings! He was a skillful woodworker and even crafted his own guitar. Jim also loved the game of pool and was an avid pool player his whole life.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Lora (nee Lee), their; children, Sally Jackson (FL), Pam Jackson (MA), Wendy Vorhees (nee Jackson) (IL), James A. Jackson (NV), Jennifer (Jim) Schmiedeberg (nee Jackson) (AZ), Tony (Carrie) Lee (IL), Gary (Amy) Lee (IL), and Brenda Mejia (nee Lee) (NV). Proud "papa" to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonita Arnot (nee Jackson) (CA) and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William (Ingrid, deceased); and daughter, Sandra.
Per Jim's request, cremation services were performed by Desert Memorial. A "celebration of life" was held with close friends and family in Las Vegas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim's name can be made to the American Heart Association.

Jim Jackson you were an amazing man you will be missed especially on trips to. Walmart where you so boldly told me you found the depends for me ( no I never ever wore depends) but the whole store thought I did. We had many good and funny times together sure missed them when you and Lora moved so far away. RIP till we meet again
