Janet R. Plant (nee Goebel) of Las Vegas, NV and formerly of Plainfield, IL passed away peacefully on August 29, 2021 surrounded by her children. Janet was born at home in Plainfield on November 1, 1940 to Charles Jr. and Zita (Hines) Goebel.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Sylvia Gilman Plant; brother-in-law, Skip Nash and sister-in-law, Judy Goebel; her granddaughter, Samantha Ziga and great-granddaughter, Faith Stuart.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Loren Gilman Plant; her children, Janet Mayfield, Robert (Angeline) Higgenbotham, Steven (Toni) Higgenbotham, Pamela (Paul) Sneide, Tammy Carlock, Teri White and Lorie (Trent) Plant; her brothers, Charles Goebel III, Jim Goebel, Jerry (Pearl) Goebel and sisters, Charlene Nash and Denise (Bob) Uzumecki.
Janet is also survived by her grandchildren, Kevin (Becky) Mayfield Jr., Amber (Ben) Mayfield, Alyson (Jonte) Mayfield, Charles Garecht Jr, Krystal Garecht, Steven (Rachel) Higgenbotham, Beth (fiancé James) Higgenbotham, Weston (Kylie) Higgenbotham, Bradley (Kelly) Owens, Aimee (Jeremy) Erickson, Jennifer Owens, Teisha (Brock) Sather, Jennifer (Adam) Hendrickson, Francesca Carlock, Scottie (Kate) Carlock, Shaun (Lindsay) Carlock, Patrick Carlock, David (Lisa) Stuart, Thomas (Jennifer) Tibbitts, Jonathan (Nilyvette) Stuart, Sara Ziga, Paul (Tabitha) Ziga, Glen (Maribel) Ziga and Ethan (fiancé Alyssa) Plant, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Janet was a devoted wife and mother, a loving sister to her siblings. She raised her children with all her love and cherished each along with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In her younger years she was an active league bowler. She had a kind spirit, accepting of everyone as they were and a follower of Jesus Christ. She was loyal to her friends. Janet was also a talented artist, creating memories through her crocheting, sketches, and paintings.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in Janet's name would be appreciated.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 14, 9:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home and interment will follow at the Plainfield Township Cemetery. The family invites all guests to wear casual attire to reflect the friendly nature of Janet's style. For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed on the funeral home website.

From the few posts of Janet's that I saw you could tell how much she loved her family. I only saw her once after graduation at a reunion, but I remember her enthusiasm and joyfulness. Condolences to the family.
