Born: August 25, 1938; in Brooklyn, NY

Died: July 1, 2017; in Chicago, IL

Jerome (Jerry) Herman, formerly of Shorewood, Illinois died July 1, 2017 in Chicago, after a lengthy illness. Born August 25, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York.

He was preceded in death by parents, Nathan and Eva (Weiner) Herman, and brother, David Herman (Ann).

Jerry served in the U. S. Navy from 1958 to 1962. He graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the City College of New York. Jerry worked in the manufacturing of medical and hospital supply products for companies such as American Hospital Supply, Baxter Health Care and Baird.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 53 years, Ruth (Shiffman) Herman; beloved daughters, Susan (Jim) Pedley and Bobbi (Mark) Henderson; cherished grandchildren, Jordan (Jessica) Edwards, Zhanna, and Elena; great granddaughter, Lou; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 1:30 p.m., at Joliet Jewish Congregation, 250 N. Midland, Joliet, Illinois.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of JourneyCare Hospice at Rush University Health Center for the excellent care and dignified manner Jerry was able to spend his last days.
