John Hamilton II

John was born on August 30, 1957, in Chicago to LeRoy and Harriet (nee Hemenway) Hamilton and grew up in Lockport, IL. He attended Lockport Township High School where he excelled in various sports and band activities. John proudly served in the U.S Navy primarily aboard the USS Ranger, receiving numerous awards and flag commendations. He was a lifelong White Sox fan, an avid NASCAR enthusiast including working pit crews. He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, and cruising the highways in his beautiful cars.
John was a proud member of many organizations, holding office in many of them. Intensely active with the Masons and the Shriners, always marching or driving the historic fire truck in parades. Active member of Matteson Masonic Lodge 17 Joliet including twice Worshipful Master. Past President Joliet Shrine Club, Medinah Scottish Rite Addison IL, 32nd Degree, Knights Templar and Teamsters Local 179 of Joliet. A Lifetime member of the Lockport VFW Post #5788, including JR Vice Commander. John worked for many years at the Joliet brickyard and retired from the City of Rockdale Public Works Dept.
John is survived by his sister, Nancy (nee Hamilton) (Craig) Decker; his brothers, David (Suzanne nee Rudd) Hamilton, and Scott Hamilton; nephews, Alex and Sarah Hamilton, Jeremy Hamilton, Christopher and Stacy Decker, Nathan Decker and Yvette Darveax; and niece, Sarah Decker; Uncles, Clair Hemenway, Herb and Alice Hemenway; aunt, Susan and Phil Lingle and numerous cousins, grandnieces and grand nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents, LeRoy and Harriet (nee Hemenway) Hamilton; the love of his life fiancé, Patricia Tamayo; his grandparents, John and Rose Hamilton, Irving and Bernice Hemenway and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in the O'Neil Funeral Home chapel 1105 E. 9th St. Lockport, IL 60441 at 10:00am. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Joliet. Visitation in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 3:00pm until time Masonic Service at 7:00pm.
