John Kamarauskas Obituary

Age 74, late of Lockport, suddenly Thursday June 4, 2009 at his late residence. Born in Chicago, living in Lockport since 1962. John started out as a beautician and owned Beauty Crest Salon in Lockport before becoming a Will County Forest Preserve Police Officer, where he retired after 15 yrs of service. John was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and trapping with his family and friends. He loved football, especially the Green Bay Packers. Preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn; his second wife, Imelda; his parents, John and Helen (Karboske); a brother, Walter; and a sister, Marion Kamarauskas. Survived by his children, Judy (Jim) Fager of Byron, IL, John W. (Tami) of MN and Joseph (Mary Jo) of Lockport; seven grandchildren, Jessica (fiancé Adam), Charlie, Ryan, Cameron, Mindy (Ben), Travis (Keri) and Todd; a great-grandson, Conner; and a sister, Helen Timpson; several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital would be appreciated. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., in the O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 1105 East 9th Street Lockport, with Fr. Vitas Memenas officiating. Visitation Monday, 4:00 p.m. to 8pm. Interment will be private. O'Neil Funeral Home, Lockport; 815-838-5010.

Judy, Johnny & Joe, sorry I was unable to attend the wake and funeral in person as you know my Canada fishing trip got in the way I'm sure BIG JOHN would forgive me, when I was told of his passing I was filled with all the memories of all the hunting,fishing,work and family times spent with your dad he had an impact on my life in more ways than one. He was there when my father passed on and I'll never forget that I just wished that I could have been there, my deepest sympathy Jim,Cindy,Kim & Joe
