June Masuda Obituary

June Masuda

Born: March 14, 1942

Died: Sept. 25, 2014

June Masuda, a resident of Plainfield, IL, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born June Holt Ostrowski in Philadelphia, PA on March 14, 1942.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 37 years, Allen Masuda; daughter, Beth Feldman; son-in-law, Bob Feldman; beloved grandson, Seth Takumi Feldman; and brother, Joseph S. Ostrowski of Haines City, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Joseph S. Ostrowski of Trenton, NJ.

June graduated from Steinert High School in Trenton, NJ, and studied Drama and Speech at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH.

Her career included working as a realty specialist for the New Jersey Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration (US DOT) in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Arizona, the Department of Agriculture Research Service in Hyattsville, MD, and finally as a management analyst for the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC. She freely shared her knowledge and enjoyed helping others succeed in their careers.

After begin stricken severely with rheumatoid arthritis in 1987, and subsequently, becoming wheelchair bound, she reached out to others, especially children, to show them she was a real person and the wheelchair was not defining her. She loved traveling and sightseeing and made it to 49 states, except Hawaii. She was a 49'er but a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan.

June was at her best when interacting with others and spreading "sunshine." Though many people wanted to cheer her up when she was in pain, so often, they would leave uplifted by her. Despite all of the curves life threw at her, she never asked "why me" or wished ill upon anyone else. She was a kind person with an amazing heart and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her, would agree. She was one of the most inspirational people they had ever met even though she did not see it of herself. In life's journey, June was a joy and God's blessing to so many others.

In lieu of gifts and flowers, a memorial fund in her name has been arranged at Community Christian Church, 409 Ellis Boulevard, Jefferson City, Missouri, 65101.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 2, at the Community Christian Church.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Kerry Funeral Home in Palos Heights, IL (708) 361.4235 www.kerryfh.com www.facebook.com/kerryfuneral
