Kathleen Forristal Obituary

Kathleen "Kathy" Forristal
Born: February 20, 1941 in Aurora, IL
Died: October 10, 2024 in Cape Coral, FL
Kathy Forristal has changed her address to Heaven. On Oct. 10th, 2024, surrounded by love, care and encouragement of her 4 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kathy was called home after a courageous battle with ALS. She is now healed.
Kathy was born in Aurora, Illinois. At a young age, she and her family moved to Joliet. Kathy lived in Joliet for many years before moving to Rochelle and then Mt Morris Illinois.
Kathy was very Crafty! Many afghans were crocheted for weddings, baby blankets for the newborns, and a christening gown was even made for her grandbabies. Decoupage pictures and Macramé hangings adorned the walls in her home. Later in life her knitting machine became her favorite craft pastime, making hats and slippers for Christmas presents for her family.
The most fulfilling job Kathy ever had was working at The Village of Progress in Oregon, Illinois for 27 years. Kathy has always had a special place in her heart for people with special needs. As supervisor Kathy encouraged, instructed, and cheered on the consumers at 'The Village'. She loved to take her little brother, Michael, to work with her. After retirement from the Village, Kathy moved to Cape Coral, FL.
Kathy joined her parents, Vincent Forristal and Betty Hester, her stepfather George Hester Sr., Her siblings, Elaine, Bill, Rosemary, and Michael, her special sister-in-law Dorie, her son-in-law Chris. And many relatives that made the journey before her.
Kathy's greatest achievements were her four children: Dani (late Chris) Foreman, Rick (Elena) Rivera, Philip (Renee) Rivera, and Kassi (Barry) Rivera-Zinker. Her 11 grandchildren; Jennilee Foreman, Amanda Karcz, Alex (Kaitlyn) Rivera, Kati (Spencer) Hope, Keegan Rivera, Libby (Joey) Beightol, Kyle, Steph, Reese and Kulin Rivera, and Emma Broughton. And her 5 great grandchildren; Amelia, Morrison, Hayden, Myra, and baby Hope, due in Nov.
Kathy is also survived by her sisters; Betty, Peggy, Patty, Marybett, and Christine-Sarah, and brother George. As well as many cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a Mass on Nov. 9th, 2024, at 10am at St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church; 750 W. Old Indian Trail, Aurora, IL 60505 with Interment to follow at 11am at Mt Olivet Cemetery; 278 Ashland Ave., Aurora, IL 60505.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kathy's memory to; St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral; Village of Progress in Oregon, Illinois; St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon, Illinois; or to ALS research. And of course, prayers and Masses are always greatly appreciated.
