Lawrence Super Obituary

Lawrence F. Super
Born: June 6, 1936 in Morris, IL
Died: June 22, 2025 in Joliet, IL
Lawrence F. Super "Larry"
At Rest on the 22nd day of June, 2025 at Lightways Hospice, Joliet at the age of 89 years.
Born in Morris, IL the loving son of Lawrence B. and Irene Marie (nee Copeland) Super.
Dearly Loved Husband of 64 years to Geraldine "Gerry" Super; Devoted Father of Mike Super of Channahon, AnnaMarie (Gary) Read of Diamond, IL and the late Mark Super; Treasured Grandfather of Nicole (Charles) Geisen of Bradley, IL and Alisha (Anthony) Denny of Coal City, IL; Proud Great Grandfather of Julian, Jayla, Loren, Xavier and Felicity; Dear Brother of Patricia Gutzman of Coal City, Fond Brother in Law of Rose Marie Super, Rosemary Breen, Jim (Sue) Lamping and Ed (Carol) Lamping. Also left to cherish his memory are many dear nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark; two brothers, James Super, David Super and brother in law, Robert Lamping.
Larry was a fixture along with Gerry here in the Channahon Community. They were the "Super Team" always in sync always together, traveling, visiting the Casino, spending time with friends and family. They've been long time parishioners of St. Ann Catholic Church in Channahon where they lived out their love for God into a living action. On a good day you may have bumped into Larry at the local hardware store where he was picking up tools or supplies for his next project. When Larry was finished with the tools, he made sure that you could find them at one of his many garage sales because you might have a "project" too. Or you may have been a Bowling teammate or part of a foursome with Larry on the golf course, he enjoyed your company and liked being part of a team. Larry had a 25 year career as Supervisor at Exxon Mobil. He was a student of the Coal City School District and a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Army. It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you. The day God called you home.
Lawrence F. Super will be lying in state from 10:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial Begins at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 27, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 24500 S. Navajo Drive. Fr. Larry and I spent a lot of time together as kids, because our parents got together a lot. Uncle Larry was my mom’s brother, and Aunt Irene and he were favorite guests at our house. We all called him “Sonny” at that time to tell him apart from his dad. I have many fond memories of doing things together as kids. One time, while at Grandma Super’s house, we took some table cloths up on her roof and jumped off, using them as parachutes! Very low roof, so no broken bones.
RIP Sonny, I will always remember you as a favored cousin.
