Died: January 1, 2025 in Orange Beach, AL
Leona L. Molaschi died at age 95 on 1/1/2025 at her home in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Born in Joliet, IL residing in Lockport, IL retiring to Destin, FL in 1995 and then Orange Beach, AL where she resided for the last 20 years enjoying the Gulf Coast, line dancing, exercising, playing bunco to name just a few of her activities. Leona worked for many years and retired from Argonne National Laboratory in IL
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years William "Bill" Molaschi (2014). Also by her seven older siblings: Joseph (Ann) Maren, Bob Maren, Bill Maren, Ted (Joyce) Maren, Marie (Jack) Walsh, Dorothy (Wayne) Stone, Frank (Mickey) Maren, her parents, Joseph and Mihela (Riffel) Maren.
Leona is survived by and will especially be remembered by her goddaughter and niece, Marianne (Sam) Governale, her granddaughter, Shelly Molaschi and great nephew, John Governale who had the pleasure of her company, advice and hospitality including countless homemade meals and were honored to be with her at her end of this life. Surviving also are her 2 grandsons, Jeff and Brian (Tatiana) Molaschi and 4 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Mickey Maren and several nieces and nephews.
Leona's penchant for a good deal was only surpassed by her impeccable style and boundless energy for living her busy life. Her laugh, curiosity, reading all the fine print and her love of shopping and bargain hunting will be fondly remembered.
You will be missed, Aunt Leona, our special aunt, godmother, grandmother and friend.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas by the Sea Catholic Church in Orange Beach, Alabama on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00am.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Barrancas National Cemetery columbarium in Pensacola, Florida. She will be placed with her husband Bill.
