Mattie Ree King was born in Whatley, AL to the late Eugene and Ethel Mae (Burrell) King on March 23, 1951.

She was employed by Western Electric, AT&T, Johnson & Johnson before ending her working career with Sunny Hill Nursing Home.

Mattie Ree passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Joliet, IL after a long battle with cancer.

Mattie Ree is survived by her only son, Michael Eugene King; his wife, LaTarsha; three grandchildren, Jailynn, Daniel and Madison King, all of Joliet, IL. She is also survived by her brothers, Eugene King, Jr. (Debbie), Robert L. King of Joliet, IL; Willie King (Theresa) of Sarasota, FL; her sisters, Glenda Ann Williams, Queen E. King of Sarasota, FL and Julia M. Gwin (Johnnie) of Atlanta, GA; nieces and nephews include, Sedrick, Tashonda and Robert L. King, Jr. of Joliet, IL; Roderick and Avery Williams, Mark (Jodi) Gwin, Erlisha (James) Postell, Vernessa Harrell of Atlanta, GA, Leslie (Alonzo) Morris, April King, Keisha (Joe) Hokey, Curtis E. King and the late Lorray (Darryl) L. Clyborn from Sarasota, FL, Vernice (Marcus) Jackson of Houston, TX and Tina King; very close and special family, Vincent (Diane) Thomas, Howard (Andrea) Thomas, Paul (Elizabeth) Thomas, Paula Thomas and their children from Houston, TX.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
