Raymond Klund Obituary

EASTON — Raymond C. Klund, 63, a resident of Easton for the past 34 years, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, Jan. 18, 2009, at home. He was the husband of Ellen J. (Shaughnessy) Klund for 35 years.

Born in Stoughton on April 24, 1945, a son of Raymond W. Klund of South Yarmouth and the late Lucy H.D. (Everett) Klund, he was raised in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. A veteran of the Navy, he served during the Vietnam War.

Raymond was employed as a meat cutter for 41 years and worked for Shaw's Supermarket in Sharon, where he also served as the union steward.

He enjoyed collecting corvettes and playing golf and tennis, and he was an avid sports enthusiast.

In addition to his wife Ellen, he is survived by two children, Jennifer Schofield and her husband, Sam, of Middleboro, and Michael Klund of Easton; two sisters, Nancy Beless of Yarmouthport and Laurel Snowden of South Yarmouth; a brother, Edward Klund of California; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington St. (Route 138), Easton, followed by a memorial service in the funeral home at 3 p.m. Interment with military honors will be held on Monday at 1:15 p.m. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond's memory may be sent to either the Easton Police Department, 46 Lothrop St., Easton, MA 02356, or to the Easton Fire Department, 413 Bay Road, Easton, MA 02375.
