Richard Delaney Obituary
Richard "Rich" J. Delaney, age 70, passed away peacefully at Villa Franciscan on Friday, April 29, 2022, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Judy Delaney (nee Hosback); sister, Kathy Delaney and her husband, Jeff Chromzack; brother, Donald G. (Juanita) Delaney; niece, Lily; cousins and dear friends, Tom Goode, Janet Ivanich, Deacon Dave (Josephine) Raskowski, Jim Dietz, Craig Goode, Earl Zastro, Ray Balantine, Dave Wright, and Henry Esquivel.
Preceded in death by his parents; F. Donald (Catherine) Delaney.
Rich was born in Joliet on July 30, 1951. He attended St Paul the Apostle School, Joliet Catholic High School, class of 1969, and Joliet Junior College. Rich was employed at Texaco, Ecolab, and the Catholic Diocese of Joliet. He loved sports and was a big Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. Devoted to his catholic faith and the blessed mother. He often visited the shrine of Our Lady at Champion in Wisconsin. Rich was a member of the Fishers of Men, Cancer Support Group, and the Knights of Columbus.
Rich was a good friend of Bill W. for 37 years and reached out to many people during that time. He was very generous with his time.
Special thanks to Dr. Ellen Gustafson, Lightways Hospice and Villa Franciscan for the excellent care he received while he was there. Also thank you goes out to Vicki Martell and Natalie Bayci. They are dear friends and neighbors whose help was deeply appreciated during this time of need.
Visitation for Rich will be Monday, May 2, 2022, from, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St., Joliet, IL. Visitation to continue Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 8:30 am until time of Funeral Services at 9:30 am from the funeral home to Church of St. Jude Catholic Church, 2212 McDonough Street, Joliet, IL, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431, or St. Jude Catholic Church would be appreciated.

Rich was such a great guy. The memories of family holiday gatherings are some of my fondest memories. A quiet man who served God, family and friends willingly and eagerly.
Rich was a simply good man. What higher praise is there?
May the sting of his passing, in time, turn to a warm remembrance that heals the heart.
