Ruby M. Grudis

Grudis, Ruby M. (nee Vineyard) Age 84, a long time Channahon/Joliet resident, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 20, 2013 with her family by her side at The Park at Plainfield. Born May 12, 1928 in Harrisburg, IL to the late Elva (nee Robb) and Cressie L. Vineyard, she was raised in Harrisburg and moved to Joliet in her teens, graduating with Joliet Township High School Class of 1946. Loving wife of 18 years to Ken; beloved mother of the late Richard "Rick" (Sherry) Lawson, late Sharon Lawson and Cheryl (nee Woods) Bever (fiancé John Tira) of Plainfield; proud grandmother of Bryan Bever, Brett Bever, Jennifer, nee Lawson (Jess) Hoth and Kristen Lawson; great-grandchildren, Brock Bever and Addison Hoth; sister of the late Claude Vineyard of Channahon and the late Gladys Eichhorn of Lansing; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Ruth Shadwell. Retired from Illinois Bell in the engineering department, she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and Ladies Auxiliary (past President) of VFW Cantigny Post #367. She was a wonderful dancer, who also enjoyed golf and bowling. Funeral Services for Ruby M. Grudis will be Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.
