Ruth Engle Sears

Ruth Engle Sears Age 84, formerly of Shorewood, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Lemont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 6, 1926 in Thomas, OK, to the late Paul and Nellie (nee Reed) Engle. She received a Bachelors degree from Southern Nazarene University, Bethany, OK and a Masters degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma. Mrs. Sears taught elementary school for several years in Oklahoma City, OK and Romeoville, IL. in the Valley View school district for 22 years. Member of Joliet First Church of the Nazarene. Survived by four step-children, Ann (David) Blomgren of Lemont, IL, David (Bethene) Sears of Wheat Ridge, CO, Stephen (Gayle) Sears of Rockford, IL and Judith Sears of Denver, CO. Nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, her sister Ann Cook of Houma, LA and several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence W. Sears (2007); her parents; two sisters, Loine Roberts and Nadine Campbell, and one brother, Harold Engle. Ruth was a dedicated educator and wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and being very active with her church family. Funeral services for Ruth E. Sears will be held Thursday, Septmber 9, 2010 at Oak Lawn First Church of the Nazarene, 6343 W. 90th Place, Oak Lawn, IL., where Ruth will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the services begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet.
