Died: March 22, 2016; in New Lenox, IL
Thomas A. Roberts, of Mokena, died at the age of 68, at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox, on March 22, 2016.
Tom was born on July 29, 1947 in Joliet, to Carrol and LaVerne (Gunhouse) Roberts, who proceed him in death.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary L. (Schleder) Roberts, who he married on June 24, 1973; his children, Tom (Jorie) Roberts of Peotone, IL, David (Heidi) Roberts of McHenry, IL, Andrea (Jeremiah) Kelly of Mokena, IL, Melanie Haag of Mokena, IL and Megan (Robert) Smith of Manhattan, IL. He was the loving grandpa to Gabrielle Roberts, Nicholas, Alexander, Olivia, Isaiah and Andrew Roberts, Emma, Wesley, Adrianna and Logan Kelly and Caelen and Alan Haag. Tom was the BEST big brother to Jill (Don) Smagacz, Robin (Bob) White, and Karen (Frank) Redmann; and loving uncle to MANY nieces and nephews.
Tom was a life long Mokena resident, graduating from Lincoln-Way Central High School and receiving his Associate's Degree from Joliet Junior College. Tom was a 35 year employee of General Motors and an active and involved member of the Mokena United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., with celebration of life immediately following at Mokena United Methodist Chruch, 10901 W. LaPorte Rd., Mokena, IL 60448.
If desired, memorials can be made to Mokena United Methodist Church.

Tom was a special person. He was the first one to welcome my son and I to the neighborhood. Always had time to stop and talk usually about his wife Mary, his girls and the grandchildren. He will be missed Rest in peace Tom.

I spent time with Tom and Mary maybe 3 times in the past 38 years that I have been a Sorensen/Gunhouse...such a fun and grounded guy...So sorry for your loss Mary and Roberts cousinsā¤

Tom....Tommy was my cousin...the eldest...he was cool...he could out-fish me, he "knew" things....he got me my first job....he let me drive his 58 Chevy....he served his country.....he was my friend.
