Vivian C. Carey

Carey, Vivian Corrine (nee Carlson) Age 87, the last two years in Naperville, but formerly of Plainfield, IL, Sarasota, FL, Elmhurst, IL, Malvern, PA, and Chicago, IL. She was born January 12, 1925 in Rockford, IL. Died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility in Naperville following a seven-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Paul Josephson of Naperville; son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Janet Carey of Lockport; sister, Jeanette Kuehn of Roanoke, VA; four grandchildren, Christina (Scott) Beatty of Urbana, Matt (Darcy) Josephson of Chicago, and Celia and Tessa Carey of Lockport; a soon-to-be born great-grandchild; and six nieces and three nephews. Vivian will be missed! She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Carey; a daughter, Caryn Carey; brother, Dr. Leland Carlson; and sister, Verna Johnson. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Crest Hill, IL. She was active in church life in all the churches she belonged to throughout the years. Vivian graduated from East High School in Rockford, North Park College (now University) in Chicago, and the University of Minnesota. After teaching junior high business and English for four years, she became a mother and homemaker. Later in her life she worked part-time as a secretary at a school, an insurance company, and a law firm. Visitation Thursday, September 20, 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Crematory Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Funeral Services will follow Thursday, 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home with Pastor David Green. Family and friends will meet Friday, September 21, 11:00 A.M. at Scandinavian Cemetery, 1700 Rural Rd. in Rockford, IL for graveside services.
