Age 82, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 14, 2021 at her home with family by her side.

Survived by her loving husband John Cantu; two daughters Michelle (David) Platt and Patty (Dave) Hallerberg; grandsons Kevin (Andrea) Platt, Ryan and Kyle Hallerberg; Two sisters Barbara Taylor and Rose(Donald) McCowan; two sisters-in-law Diane Cantu and Lucy Cantu. Numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents William "Foley" and Grace (Arnett) Edmonds; three sisters Alberta (Bernard) Fulkerson , Betty (John) Debelak and Shirley(Bill) Blaylock. One sister in law Mary Wiegman and brothers in law Jerry Cantu and Roger Taylor.

Born in Bloomington, IL, living in Joliet. Vonna was a devout Christian and a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She truly loved her dear friends, neighbors, family, three grandsons, granddaughter and all her fur grandbabies. Vonna was "mom" to so many, who loved her like their own. She always went out of her way to help in so many ways. Vonna was a prime example of what a mother should be. She was known for taking pride in having a spotless clean house, making the best cakes and decorated them for all occasions, always decorating for every holiday, hosting the parties and had the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus make an appearance.

Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. If you are unable to attend the funeral mass in person you will be able to view the service by visiting www.bgsfuneralhome.com and follow the video link. Interment at a later date at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation Saturday morning 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 or Hopeful Tails Animal Rescue, 2303 Oak Leaf St., Joliet, IL 60436 would be appreciated.
