William Imrie Obituary

William Ralph Imrie
Born: November 24, 1944 in Joliet, IL
Died: January 9, 2025 in Plainfield, IL
William Ralph Imrie, 80, passed away on January 9, 2025, in Aurora, IL. Born on November 24, 1944, Bill was known for his infectious laughter, mischievous spirit, and his ability to talk to anyone about anything.
Bill graduated from Joliet Township Central High School in 1962. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965, serving valiantly in the 25th Infantry Division, 4th Cavalry during the Vietnam War.
Professionally, Bill's career spanned various roles including construction worker, meat cutter, and car salesman, before he found his calling at Commonwealth Edison as a Bulk Power Dispatcher, a role he dedicated himself to until his retirement.
Bill loved to tell stories and make others laugh, attributes he shared with his loving wife, Jane, and his caring daughters, Heather Imrie (Scott Franks) and Faith Gould (Shawn Gould). He was a proud grandfather to Samantha and Jameson Gould. His family circle included his sister-in-law, Charlotte Traven, and numerous nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his parents, Verna and Ralph Imrie, his brother Richard Imrie, sister-in-law Shirley Imrie, and brothers-in-law Jack Traven and Robert Gronemann.
An avid outdoorsman, Bill was nicknamed "Mr. Musky" by an old friend, a testament to his passion for fishing. His love for sports extended to bowling, having played on his high school team and continuing in various leagues throughout his life. A motorsport enthusiast, Bill never missed an opportunity to watch or attend Nascar, Indy, and drag car races. His love for travel took him to many places, with Florida, Texas, Canada, and Wisconsin being some of his favorite destinations.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by JSR Memorial Cremation in Romeoville, IL. Bill will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where he will be accorded military honors by the United States Army. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.

Bill was my friend, brother in arms and co-worker - in that order. Bill was one of a kind; kind, funny, witty, adept with irony and sarcasm when the situation called for it and one of the best story tellers it has been my pleasure to have ever known. I could always depend on him. I miss him. He was one of the best!!!
