Barbara Duncan Obituary

Barbara Sue Duncan, 82, La Porte, passed away from a five year illness on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Golden Living Center - La Porte. She formerly lived at Cambridge Square in La Porte.
Barbara was born Oct. 4, 1931 in Mayfield, Ky. to Parrom and Ella (Coleman) Owen.
She was married in 1947 to Estes McClain who preceded her in death; then in 1957 to John B. Helm Sr., who preceded her as well. 
Barbara worked as a cook and retired from Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle.   
Surviving are her beloved children, Patricia Sue (Clifford) Hughes, New Carlisle, David V. (Jan) McClain, Boone, Iowa, and John B. Helm, Boone, Iowa; grandchildren, Cindy (Lisa Roddy) Hughes, Scott (Sue) Hughes, Tracy Huffman, Kelli Albertson, Nathan and Nicholas Helm; five special great-grandchildren, Lynsey (Chance) Daley, Holly (David Patti) Buchanan, Cory (Britt) Hughes, Cari Hughes, and Kaitlyn Hughes; eleven remaining great-grandchildren; three special-great-great-grandchildren, CJ Daley, Ciara Daley, and Brayden Patti; sister, Margie Work, Denver, Colo.; and brother, Robert Owens, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; four brothers; two sisters; one grandchild, Bobbi Meese; one great-grandchild, Tyler Hughes; and grand puppy, Mr. Wilson.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at the Cutler Cremation Center following the service. 
Burial will take place privately at Oak Grove Cemetery.
