George Hiatt Obituary

George Albert Hiatt, 91, Alexandria, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Alexandria Care Center following an extended illness.
He was born at Noblesville on Nov. 15, 1918, to William and Nellie Hiatt.
He was a 1936 graduate of Fisher High School.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was awarded numerous medals and was stationed in Austria, Germany, and France.
He was a millwright for 36 years at Delco Remy before his retirement in 1975.
He was a member of the Arcadia Christian Church and was an avid bowler, woodworker, and craftsman. He enjoyed making sculptures from metal, spending time with his family and he had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 38 years, Roselyn J. Hiatt; children, Shirley Kimmerling, Janet Carpenter, Preston Robertson, Joanna Berry, Ben Robertson, Maxina Gettinger, Ellen Durr, and Maxie Robertson; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and many friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Alexandria Care Center.
A son, Steve Hiatt; sisters, Fredia Cook, Metredean Godsey, and Geneiva Clifford are deceased.
The family will hold a Celebration of Live service from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, at Alexandria Service Center, 104 E. Berry St., Alexandria. He will be cremated and his ashes will be buried at Hurlock Cemetery, Noblesville at a later date.

Elm Ridge Funeral Home, Muncie in charge of arrangements.
