George Davison Jr. Obituary

George Allen Davidson Jr., 83, of Roodhouse, Ill., passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Port Huron, Mich., the son of George A. and Merle Christian Davidson.
George was of the Protestant faith. He served in the Air Force were he received many medals during the Korean War. He became a teacher during his time in the military and worked for the ROTC Program in Peoria, Ill.
Always involved in veterans affairs, George spent the majority of his life in Monticello, where he served as Secretary and Finance Officer for the Am Vets. He later worked for International Harvester where he traveled extensively. After retirement he moved to Clearwater, Fla. The last years of his life were spent in Roodhouse, Ill. with his niece, Nancy (Jim) Young.
He is survived by a niece, Maralyn Wood, East Tawas, Mich. and numerous distant family members. His closest relationship was with those he called his grandchildren, Cole and Heather Downey, children of Mel and Tammy Downey, George's lifelong companions and "family".
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Buffalo Cemetery with military services being conducted by the Monticello Veteran's Honor Guard.
The Daws Family Funeral Home in Roodhouse, Ill. is entrusted with the services.
