Herbert R. Fisher

1921 - 2015

Herbert R. Fisher, 93, Brookston, passed away at 11 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at Whispering Pines Nursing Home of Monticello.
He was born July 4, 1921 in White County to the late Roy D. and Ruth (Van Voorst) Fisher and was a 1939 graduate of Monon High School.
His marriage of 68 years was to Lucille Dahlenburg on April 1, 1945 in Monticello. She preceded him in death on June 8, 2013.
He and his wife were longtime members of the Chalmers Community Church.
Herb was a longtime farmer in Chalmers raising both grain and cattle. Upon retiring in 1978 he and his wife Lucille moved to Brookston. To keep busy, Herb worked in maintenance for Purdue University at Wiley Hall and was a funeral attendant at the Hartzler Funeral Home for several years. He also enjoyed woodworking in his shop at home, fishing and traveling.
Surviving are two children, Keith (Kathy) Fisher, Cunningham, Tenn. and Jane (Randall) Moore, Monticello. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death with his parents and wife are his brothers, Melvin, Leroy, Roscoe, and Wayne Fisher; his sisters, Irene Irons, Edna Rinker-Meeker, and Phyllis Hughes; and a great-grandson.
Friends may call Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston; Pastor Bill Henderson to officiate.
Interment to follow in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Chalmers Community Church.
