Mark Skidmore Obituary
Mark was the devoted husband of Cathy Skidmore and the proud father of Misty Skidmore, Tara Skidmore, Troy Skidmore (Caitlin Skidmore), Shana Meyers, and Nathan Meyers. He was preceded in death by his son, Jake Skidmore. He is also survived by his siblings Randy Skidmore (Lisa Skidmore) and Deb Sweet (Don Sweet), and was preceded in death by his parents, Burel J. and Audrey Skidmore.
Mark was the cherished grandfather of Alexis Madrid, Chloe Madrid, Miles Madrid, Kinsley Grace Meyers, Alexandria Meyers, Olivia Meyers, Charlotte Kate Skidmore, and Weston Jake Skidmore, all of whom brought him great joy.
A 1972 graduate of Wainwright High School, Mark spent his career working in management and manufacturing. His professional journey included positions at Alcoa, SIA, Ivy Tech, Rio Tinto, and Alcon. At Alcoa, he became a journeyman electrician, and as part of the second group hired at SIA, he had the unique opportunity to travel to Japan during his 12 years with the company. Mark was a natural teacher and formed lasting friendships with many of his coworkers throughout the years.
Faith played an important role in Mark's life. He drove the Sunday school bus for Elston Family Church and helped build the church's addition, serving his community in practical and meaningful ways.
After retiring to his lake house in 2019, Mark enjoyed music, working on cars, and family vacations. Among his favorites were his 1965 Mustang and his ""shark boat,"" both of which reflected his fun-loving and adventurous spirit.
Mark had a dynamic personality and a great sense of humor-you never quite knew what he might say next. His warmth, laughter, and larger-than-life presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held Thursday, Oct. 23 at Elston Family Church from 4 - 6:30 p.m.
