Stephen Kenneth Bowles

1967 - 2023

Stephen Kenneth Bowles, 55, Monticello, passed away on March 12, 2023, at the TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Ky.

He was born on July 12, 1967, in Glasgow, Ky., to Carol Kingrey Bowles Barrett and the late Kenneth "Red" Bowles.

One of Stephen's many hobbies included playing pool. He avidly played in a local pool league. During his many years of being a mechanic, Stephen grew a love for all things to do with cars. Small die cast cars and matchbox cars also caught his interest, and he collected many of them over the course of years. In addition to the die cast cars, Stephen also loved Farmall tractors and comic books as well. In addition to his love of cars and tractors, Stephen's favorite band was The Kentucky Head Hunters, his favorite drink was Crown Royal, and his favorite bar was The Other Place. Stephen was also a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. They were very near and dear to him. He will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Bowles, Monticello; one daughter, Abby Bowles, Monticello; three sons, Jacob Bowles and Evan Bowles, both of Monticello, and Dayne (Alyssa) Bowles (Alyssa), West Palm Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kacyn, Kalum, and Kayne Bowles; mother and step-father, Carol Barrett and Jack, Summer Shade, Ky.; and grandmother, Maxie Kingrey, Summer Shade, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth "Red" Bowles.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 17 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade, Ky. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, March 17 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m.

Burial will follow in the White Cemetery in Sulphur Lick, Ky.

In lieu of flowers donation can be made toward the funeral expense. These can be made at the office of McMurtrey Funeral Home.
