Adolph Neaderland Obituary

Adolph Charles Neaderland
Adolph Charles Neaderland, 99.5 years young, husband of Gloria Neaderland of Norwalk, passed peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on October 29, 1924, to the late Herman and Rae Neaderland.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Gloria Neaderland and children, Dr. Margie Neaderland (Dr. Robert Steckel), Carol Neaderland Frodge (Dr. Jonathan Frodge), and David Neaderland (Jody Neaderland). Grandchildren Megan Frodge (Mike Adams), Sara Frodge (Cory Greenberg), Emma Neaderland, and Jacob Neaderland and great-grandson Harrison Adams and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Dr. Ralph Neaderland.
He was dedicated to his family, community and country. He served in the Army from 1943-1945 during World War II. He then graduated from NYU in the College of Engineering with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Adolph's career in Engineering and Senior Management spanned working for Burndy Corporation, Gould, Lightolier, and Kings Electronics. He made a pivotal entrepreneurial decision in 1984 to start his own company with his son, David, leading to, in 1987 the founding of Sound Control Technologies of Norwalk. He retired as President at the age of 90.
Over the course of his life he was very active in the formation and development of Temple Shalom of Norwalk. He was active in local politics specifically with regard to planning and zoning. He was very concerned that developers were not contributing their fair share of the burden of Norwalk's infrastructure. He felt strongly about education and taught English as a Second Language at the Norwalk Library. He was an early adopter of solar energy and computer technology.
Adolph embodied living with purpose and was a lifelong learner. He enjoyed his work, was always ready to lend a hand, debate difficult topics, join you on the tennis court or spend an afternoon fishing on his boat enjoying Long Island Sound. He also enjoyed skiing, golf, jogging, and gardening. He was a skilled wood worker, specializing in clocks and he also enjoyed stain glass crafts.
Burial with military honors will be held privately. A Celebration of Life will be held in June. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norwalk Hospital or a caring charity of your choice in his name.

I think it was around 30 years ago when I first met Adolph, the person who most often answered the phone by saying "Sound Control!"
His kindness and humor were infectious and it was always a pleasure to spend a few minutes chatting with him.
I´m so sorry for your loss Gloria, Margie, Carol, David, and their families.
May Adolph rest in peace while living forever in your hearts and memories.

I have very fond memories of Adolph, who's Sound Controls Company was in the same 28 Knight Street building as mine. We passed each other many times in the parking lot, just saying hello and not much else, but then ran into each other at an Al Gore fundraiser in Stamford, after which we became good friends. Had lunch together many times after that.

I'd like to attend the Celebration of Life in June. Will there be a public announcement?
