Allen R. Edwards, Sr.
Allen R. Edwards, Sr. of Norwalk, CT, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on October 14th, 2022. Though born in Philadelphia, PA, to Allen and Evelyn Edwards, Allen was a lifelong resident of Norwalk, having moved here with his parents at a young age.
He enlisted in the Navy at 18 and served as a Communications Operator from 1954-58. Upon returning from enlistment, he married his sweetheart, Barbara Edwards (nee Takacs), and began raising his family of five children. He worked as an insurance salesman at Combined Insurance Company for 20 years.
Allen is predeceased by both his parents; his brother, George; his two daughters, Christine McCormack and Karen Williams; and son-in-law, James Williams.
Allen is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Catherine Edwards and fiancée, Joseph Ferris; his son, Allen Edwards Jr. and wife ,Linda; his son, Robert Edwards; his grandchildren, Margaret Springer; Mallory Agler and husband, Jon, Ryan Springer and wife, Allyson, Francis Springer and fiancée, Tori, Matthew Edwards and Justin Edwards, and Hanna McCormack; and his great-grandchildren, Jack and Vale Agler, Malekai, Cassius and Elliana Springer, and Baby Springer on the way.
Our beloved "Poppy" will be missed dearly by his entire family and friends.
Calling hours will be at Magner Funeral Home on Thursday, October 20th from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 21st.
