Charles Raymond Obituary

Raymond, Charles T.
Charles T. Raymond, after valiantly battling years of being handicapped due to a fall, passed away peacefully at the Autumn Lake Health Care Center on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. He was 91.
Charlie was born in Wilton on November 30, 1925 and was the son of the late Ely and Mamie Raymond. He graduated from Staples High School and then went on to graduate from R.P.I. Charlie served in the U. S. Army Air Corp and was a lifelong resident of Wilton and Westport. He founded the Raymond Automation Corporation, a packaging machine company located in Norwalk. And Automation and Product Development Corporation, a custom machinery design firm.
Charlie was an avid sailor, skier and high diver. One of his favorite hobbies was teaching others how to sail and then taking them out to practice on his boat, Mistral, He was a Commodore with the Singles Under Sail Sailing Club.
Right after World War II he was one of a very few people who enjoyed learning to ski. He was also one of a few people in the 60's who learned how to use a computer.
As a businessman, he was known and admired for his integrity. As a prankster, he was known for his sense of humor.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn Boyan of sixteen years, Charlie is survived by one son, Charles and his wife, Karen, three grandchildren, Matt McNall, Alex and Kailie Raymond. He was stepfather to Diana and Greg Torok. His daughter, Patty predeceased him.
There was a family burial on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Hillside Cemetery in Wilton. The Harding Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Condolences for the family may be left online at www.hardingfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
