David DeWitt Obituary

SOUTHBURY- David M. DeWitt, 79, of Southbury, died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. (Kersten) DeWitt.

Mr. DeWitt was born August 19, 1931 in Stamford, CT, son of the late Fred Lynn DeWitt and Laura (Vonderleith) Mancusi. He was a commercial real estate property manager. He has resided in Southbury for 7 years, previously living in Huntington, CT and had lived in Norwalk, CT for over 30 years, where he and his late wife had raised their family. He was an enthusiast of all forms of auto racing. In his later years, he enjoyed his garden. Mr. DeWitt also enjoyed being with his family, especially at holidays and family gatherings. He was a member of the South Britain Congregational Church and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by four children, David L. DeWitt of Rochester, NY, Denise L. Drake and her partner Peg Drenckhahn of Norwalk, Gary Peter DeWitt and his wife AnnMarie of Southbury and Christopher J. DeWitt of Southbury, as well as a brother Ronnie DeWitt of Spring Hill, FL and sister in-law Joan Paspalis and her husband Peter, along with 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the South Britain Congregational Church, E. Flat Hill Rd. (693 South Britain Rd.), Southbury. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 3-7p.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North. Burial will be private. Contributions may be made to South Britain Congregational Church. Online condolences may be made through www.munsonloveterefuneralhome.com.
