Eugenia (Jean) K. Lebedeff, 91, passed away on November 26, 2025 at the Bridges Memory Care facility in Norwalk, Connecticut. Jean was born In Whitestone Queens, NY on September 16, 1934 to George and Julia (Domanick) Kreshak.
Jean's childhood was marred by a bout of pleurisy but Jean, with the help of her loving parents, overcame that obstacle and though she was housebound, she kept up with her schooling and was able to resume school at grade level. This incident set the stage for the determination and grit Jean exhibited throughout her life.
Jean went on to obtain her executive secretarial credentials and served capably as executive assistant to several high-level executives most notably at GE where she worked until her retirement.
In 1967 Jean married her beloved husband Sergei Lebedeff. Sergei was a world-renowned atmospheric scientist and his work took him to Belfast, Ireland, to California, and to New York. In addition to travelling for work, Sergei and Jean loved to travel for leisure both abroad and throughout the US. In 1977, they bought a home and settled into Norwalk Connecticut. Sadly Sergei passed away unexpectedly from cardiac arrest in 1990 at the young age of 62. Jean was on her own and rebuilt her life: travelling, attending concerts and the opera, frequenting art galleries, researching and trading stocks. Always with a smile on her face she loved to sit and talk to neighbors, friends and anyone looking for good conversation. A woman of many talents- she quilted, she crocheted, she sewed, she cooked. A full life well lived.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 3, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Additional calling hours will be held on Friday, December 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gleason Funeral Home, 10-25 150th Street, Whitestone, NY, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home. Jean will be laid to rest at Flushing Cemetery, 163-06 46th Avenue, Flushing, NY.
