Gary DeRosa Obituary

Gary David DeRosa, age 72, of Norwalk, passed away February 11, 2012, at Norwalk Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Stamford, he was the son of the late Jules and Evelyn Davies DeRosa. Gary was a mechanic for 38 years with Hoffman Fuel and a proud veteran of United States Air Force where he served during the Korean War era. Gary was a member of the Disabled Veterans Association and A.A.R.P.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Audrey DeRosa; two sons, Robert and his wife, Lisa DeRosa, of Monroe, Gary A. DeRosa of Bridgeport; two daughters, Natalie and her husband Brian Mydland, Susan DeRosa Cundari and her husband Rocco, all of Norwalk. Eight grandchildren; Matthew, Christina, Gary D. II, Samantha and Austin DeRosa, Rebecca and Richard Mydland and Rocco Cundari IV. He is also survived by a brother, Richard DeRosa and his wife Sally of Seminole, Florida, as well as two nieces.

Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 4-8 P.M. in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory, 5 Wall Street, Norwalk. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 306 Industrial Park Rd. Suite 107, Middletown, CT 06457; Multiple Sclerosis Society, 659 Tower Ave. Hartford, CT 06112 or Special Olympics, 1133 19th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036.

The staff of the funeral home is honored to assist the DeRosa family in their time of need.

In the 1950's I grew up with Gary in Springdale, CT. and later worked with him in the garage at Hoffman Fuel for 25 years years. God bless his family and we think of them often. Our thoughts are especially with his wife Audrey and his children.

So sorry to hear of Gary's passing,I was a driver at Hoffman Fuel from 1979 til 1984.gary was a great guy he helped me many times and always had a smile,he was always there when we needed him. May God Bless his family at this sad time, R.I.P.
