VERNON HILLS/HARLINGEN, TX. -Glenn A. Bacon Sr., 86, formerly of Harlingen, TX died Wednesday January 9, 2008 at his home in Vernon Hills, Illinois. He was born January 11, 1921 in Oak Park, IL and had recently moved to Vernon Hills, IL.
He was a graduate of the University of Chicago and received his degree in medicine from Northwestern School of Medicine. Dr. Bacon served as a Captain in Korea with the US Army from 1946-48. Dr. Bacon served his residency in Psychiatry at VAMC North Chicago, IL from, 1949-1953. He was the first Psychiatrist in Racine, WI.
In 1953 he was board certified in Psychiatry, following that, he operated the Bacon Clinic, LTD of Racine, WI from 1953-85. From 1985-87 Dr. Bacon was staff Psychiatrist at Tropical Texas Mental Health/Mental Retardation Hospital in Edinburg, Texas. He was Chief of Staff at St. Luke's Hospital, Racine, WI from 1961-63. Clinical Direc-tor/Chief of Staff at Texas Department of Mental Health/Mental Retardation, Rio Grande Center from 1987-91. Dr. Bacon retired in 1994.
He is survived by his wife Isabell nee Wilson of 23 years of marriage, his children Marsha (Sam) Havens of AZ, Linda Hopkins of PA, Sandra Bacon of Lake Bluff, IL, Glenn A. (Krys) Bacon, Jr., of Lake Bluff, IL and April Bacon of Skokie, IL; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Vivian (Howard) Bonner of TN and his beloved dog LOBO.
Private funeral services were held at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville, IL.
Interment with full military honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
