James Richard DeVito, (Jimmy), 74, of Westport, has moved on in peace to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in heaven on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
His life was celebrated with many blessings, from his beautiful and talented children and grandchildren to his personal triumphs along his path here with us.
He was born in Norwalk on June 15, 1950 to the late Albert T. Devito Jr. and Catherine Girouard DeVito.
Jimmy was driven to achieve the very best in all he set out to do, from playing football throughout his years at Central Catholic High School, then onto Graceland College, ultimately leading to a fielding position in the semi-professional division of the New York Jets.
He loved putting himself out there both personally and professionally. He mentored many through his years dedicated to sobriety, as a sponsor, sharing his story selflessly. In business Jimmy was unstoppable, virtually without fear as he forged a multitude of successes throughout his long career in the construction and development world. All the while giving his best to the ones he loved dearly, his family.
Jimmy is survived by his two sons, Bruce W. DeVito and his wife Anne and Christopher J. DeVito and his wife Shayla, five grandchildren, Michael, Nicole, Natalie, Abbe, and Ryan, and by four siblings, Albert F. DeVito, Thomas F. DeVito, Cathleen A. DeVito, and Vincent J. DeVito.
In addition to his parents Jimmy was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Borgeson.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 29, from 4 PM to 6:30 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A prayer service will conclude the evening at 6:30 PM. Jimmy will be laid to rest privately at St. John Cemetery.
