Jan Heneghan, 89, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025. She was the widow of James "Doc" Heneghan.
Jan was born in Hartford on August 31, 1936 to the late Elmer and Katherine Christensen. She grew up spending her summers swimming, boating and enjoying the outdoors at Coventry Lake and raised her family in Norwalk, CT. Jan was a longtime member of Sprite Island Yacht Club where she spent many happy hours baking in the sun on the beach with friends. Jan also worked for several doctors in Fairfield County including The Avery Center.
We remember Jan as a proud feminist, a speedy driver, a voracious reader, a morning swimmer, and the queen of acronyms, one of her favorites was "you're being a real P.I.T.A." To all who knew her, Jan was a force to be reckoned with - loving, fiercely loyal and irreverent.
Jan is survived by her two sons, John Heneghan and his wife Eden Brower of New York and James Heneghan and Mette Holmer of Stockholm, Sweden, along with two grandchildren, Lucy Heneghan and Jolene Heneghan. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Clifford J. Heisler, Jr. of Southington. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Joyce Heisler and her daughter Lynn Heneghan.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. with visiting hours before the service from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, CT. And by the way, dress as you feel comfortable. Formal attire, beach attire or something in between. Burial will be private.
