John Diamantis Obituary
John Diamantis, age 94, beloved husband of Alexandra (formerly Gasiou), of Norwalk, CT passed away at his home on Saturday, April 2, 2022. John was born January 21st, 1928 to his revered parents, George and Ourania in the beautiful village of Teriachi, Greece. John served two years in the Greek military and then attended college in Greece while working all along before immigrating to the United States in 1960, where he worked tirelessly to achieve his goals. On a trip back to his homeland in 1967, he amazingly met his wonderful future wife, Alexandra, at a bus stop. He returned to the U.S. to work even more diligently so he could marry his lovely Alexandra upon his return to Greece on August 4th, 1968.
After the honeymoon, John again returned to Norwalk to work tirelessly and his wife joined him in October, 1968. They never parted again. Together they opened the first version of Speedy Donuts in the heart of South Norwalk while also starting their family. Ultimately, John and Alexandra moved Speedy Donuts to 116 Connecticut Ave where it serves the people of Norwalk to this day. John's legacy and dedication to Speedy's is only surpassed by his love and dedication to his family. He provided them countless hours of laughter and joy as well as sharing his incredible knowledge and political insight.
John was predeceased by his loved siblings, Dorothea, Vasiliki, and Vasilios. He is survived by his wife, Alexandra; his children, Paul, Maria, and Alex; and his grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Kelly, Alexandra, John, Polina and Vaso; as well as his daughters-in-law, Irene and Dimitra; and his son-in-law, Keith. He's also survived by all his extended family and friends. Long may he run. He will never be forgotten.
Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Services will be held on Thursday, at 10:00 AM in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
