Our beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away January 28, 2010 to be with the Lord. He was born July 8, 1944 in Gronigan, Holland, to loving mother and father Albertina and Geert. He grew up in Holland, attended business school, and graduated as an accountant. He later worked for Schlumberger and lived overseas for many years before moving to Norwalk, CT where he resided for the past 20 years.

Mr. Schoonbeek is survived by brothers Jan, and Kees, sisters Bieneka and Corrie, and nephews and nieces in Holland; and by his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Luis, and grandchildren Luis, Elishia and Chaz; and by his son Joey and his wife Maria.

The wake will be held on Tuesday February 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Church service will be held Wednesday, February 10th at 2:00 PM in the Hope Church, 240 Wolfpit Road, Wilton by Rev. David Gish. I am the brother of Jurren. I will miss him greatly. We did many things together. He will always be in my heart. I have attended the impressive funeral. The church service was comforting. Jurren is now in the hand of his Heavenly Father, and he has it good. We pray for Maria, Joey and Shannon, and Beth and her children. We wish them strength in this great loss.

I am the son of Harry Schoonbeek and therefor Jurren is also my nephew. Jurren visited our familyweekends in Holland. He always collected stamps for me when a was a little boy (10 years). We were always excited when he visited us because he was our big nephew from the States!

When I was diagnosed with Cancer Jurren always was interested in our family and in my situation. He had a special place in our harts.

My condolences to the family and friends. We will pray for you!
May God give you strength in times of great sorrow.

Warm regards,

Gert Schoonbeek

i worked with jurren in nyc about 15 years ago. one time he brought in his grandson and showed him around the office. myself being near the "grandfather" point in my life, i asked jurren how it felt. without hesitation he replied, "IT FEELS GREAT!". the response immediately had me anxiously waiting the day to be a grand dad. i now have three and will always remember his comment. he was absolutely right.

he always had a great joke to tell as well.

i am very sad to hear of his passing.

RIP my friend and condolences to the family.

I am the son of Jan Schoonbeek, a brother from Jurren. So Jurren is my uncle and also we share the same name. When I was younger, we wrote a lot about mathematics (he taught me trigonometry, etc) and other uncle - nephew things. We wrote about 2 years, I still got his letters. When I got older we stopped writing.

My condolences to Maria, Beth and Joey and also to my father, Bineke, Kees en Corry. To speak with Harold; May God bless you al and give strenght in this time of grief.

I am the son of Harry Schoonbeek and therefor Jurren is my nephew. I had the pleasure of meeting Jurren once. Before that I have never seen or spoken to him. nevertheless, he helped me so much in finding an internship. With one letter and one phone call he created a position for me. Unfortunately, small details prevented this to go on. But for sure I never forgot his help and support!

My condolences to the family and friends. May God bless you all and may the warm en good memories bring you comfort in this time of grief.

Warm regards,

I am a neighbor of Jurren. I am very sorry to hear about his passing. I will always remember what a wonderful and kind man J was.
He always took time to say hello and ask how I was and never forgot to say hello to my little dog Tobi. Tobi was also happy to greet him. I wish this world had more people like him. He will be missed.

Until we meet again in heaven.

My heartfelt sympathy to his family.

Schoonbeek

All of us who worked with Jurren at Schlumberger are deeply saddened by his passing. Jurren was the epitome of that special breed of professionals that makes the Schlumberger finance function stand out from the rest. He was a superb mentor and coach, making people reach their full potential. He will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathy to the family.

Very sad news, he was so much respected at Schlumberger and tought us so much that it is difficult to think he is gone. And he made a real ambiance that no one in Schlumberger forgot, so great it was.
All my condolences.
